UCF students discuss ethical volunteering during Deliberate Dialogue Discussion

UCF students engaged in discussion and shared volunteer experiences on Wednesday afternoon during the Deliberate Dialogue discussion.

Deliberate Dialogue was a conference held for students to have conversations regarding important social issues around volunteerism. According to the United Nations Volunteer website, volunteerism contributes to various fields of social and environmental issues and fosters values of solidarity, reciprocity and empowerment.

The Confidence Conference on Thursday afternoon in the Key West Ballroom discussed tips on self-image and expression.

LGBTQ+ Student Support Services and the Multicultural Student Center collaborated on this conference for students. The event was hosted by Isabella Demblewski and Jazmon Hayes, LGBTQ+ student support services members, and they presented an interactive PowerPoint presentation with advice about self-love and empowerment.

UCF women’s basketball endures fifth straight loss against Kansas

From the second quarter to the final seconds of the game, Kansas prevented the UCF women's basketball from closing the gap below 10 points, defeating the Knights 65-53.

With missed baskets and the strong defense of the Kansas Jayhawks (16-11, 3-8 Big 12) throughout each quarter, the UCF Knights (12-15, 3-14 Big 12) struggled to keep it close at Addition Financial Arena on Wednesday night.

The crowd erupted in cheers as UCF women’s basketball defeated Houston in 92-87 overtime for its first Big 12 conference win on Saturday afternoon.

“It feels good", UCF head coach Sytia Messer said. "We had a lot of weight on us to get that first win.”

Students assembled in lines stretching from both sides of the street outside the Addition Financial Arena with nerves building as some students anticipated what opportunities awaited them at the Internship & Career Expo job fair on Thursday.
